How It Works

Open the link. Follow the clues. Notice, differently.

Browser-based walking story game

Played on the streets of Toronto.

CityStoreys is a browser-based walking story-game. Your team opens a private link, follows clues through the city, and moves the Story forward together.

No app. No tour guide.

A building can be a clue. A view can change the story.

What you need

  • at least one charged phone with mobile data
  • comfortable shoes
  • 1–4 players
  • roughly 2–4 hours

Each player can open the team link on their own phone.

How your team starts

After booking, the purchaser receives a private team link to share with the team.

Meet at the starting point, open the link, and begin when your team is ready. The timer starts with the first clue.

There is no fixed appointment time. Begin during the published start window.

How the clues work

Each clue leads to the next place.

Work out what it is asking for, record your answer, and move the Story forward.

If you get stuck

Every team has help.

Hint gives you a nudge.

Lost helps you find the route again.

Skip moves you past a clue.

Some extra help adds time to your score. Skipping adds a larger penalty, but the Story continues.

CityStoreys is meant to be challenging, not punishing. The goal is to finish the Story, not perish nobly beside a plaque.

Time, route, and breaks

Allow roughly 2–4 hours.

Stories can cross multiple neighbourhoods, following how one part of the city gives way to the next. Expect a substantial walk.

Official breaks are built into the journey. The timer stops while you sit down, refuel, and resume when you are ready.

Your score combines elapsed time with any penalties. Official breaks are off the clock.

Weather

CityStoreys runs outdoors in ordinary weather.

Dress for the forecast. If conditions become severe or unsafe, do not start. Contact CityStoreys and we will help you rebook.

Accessibility

Real city routes change. Construction, stairs, crossings and venue access can affect play.

We aim to provide practical route notes and step-free alternatives where possible.

For specific mobility, sensory or accessibility needs, check the Story details or contact us before booking.

Team play

CityStoreys works best when your team talks.

One person spots the detail. Another catches the wording. Someone else is very confident and completely wrong.

Solo play is allowed. Collaborative disagreement is encouraged.
